This is a very fine and detailed beautiful piece of 19th century French silk embroidery/needlepoint thread work circa 1780's. Decorated in an stunning floral pattern with a light neutral blue background and stitched through a stiff open weave canvas. The neutral bleu silk ground worked in chenille with an elaborate flower-filled urn, within elegant foliate scrolls and meandering vines of roses, a floral garland to each corner. This needlepoint is absolutely a work of a master of French needlework embroidery. Framed under glass in wood frame with gold suede overlay with handwritten inscription: "Old French hand embroidery" and Gallery label on verso, W.Heffer & Sons Ltd Gallery was founded in 1876 Fitzroy St. London.
The roots of needlepoint go back thousands of years to the ancient Egyptians, who used small slanted stitches to sew up their canvas tents. Historical and political needle pointers include: Mary, Queen of Scots,Marie Antoinette, and Queen Elizabeth I. Condition: few loose threads on stitches on weak areas, otherwise in good condition. The needlepoint measures 16" x 16" without the frame and measures 21.5 " x 21.5 " with the frame. An absolutely stunning piece of antique French handmade needlepoint.

I send all my international parcels using track and signed Royal Mail and Parcel Force Worldwide service except for some delicate and large items such as paintings that needs special shipment. I usually try to send parcels within 1-2 working days of payment. If you would like to add insurance to a parcel then please contact me before payment and I can provide an additional postage service. I properly secure all of my parcels prior to sending them especially fragile items. I use box and use packaging bubble wraps and papers to ensure the items get to you safely.

All UK orders are shipped through Royal Mail whereas orders for International shipping will be dependent on the item ordered (e.g. paintings, art prints) as these items require specialised courier to ship them. International orders will either be tracked or regular shipping.
Local collection is available for buyers provided this is arranged in advance and only for delicate or large items. Please contact me prior to purchase to discuss shipping options. If we both agree to pick-up, I can remove the shipping charges on the listing and reserve the item for you.
Free shipping is available for small items within the United Kingdom. Large and fragile items such as paintings have corresponding charges.
